HOW I GRADE. Records are graded visually, but I try to grade conservatively to avoid surprises. Here's what the LP & 45 grades mean.
SS = Still Sealed.
M = Mint. Appears never to have been played.
M- = Mint-. Basicily a new record but it's history is unkown to me. Should sound pretty much like a new record .
E + = Excellent +. Just a touch less quality than a mint minus record.
E = Excellent. Something about the record prevented it from getting a M-. A scuff ? Very slight signs of wear? You won't know till you get it, but it shouldn't detract much from your enjoyment of the music.
VG+ = A record in very good shape, though there will be noticeable, and probably somewhat audible wear.
VG = More serious wear. Surface noise for sure. Recommended for those not too fussy about sound, or to fill a gap in a collection at a price that's affordable. Could have writing on the label.
VG- = Very serious wear. I wouldn't put it in my collection. Strictly for bargain hunters.
G, F, P = Good, Fair or Poor. Really very worn...but note! You probably won't see a record in our auction in this condition unless it's 5 Sharps "Stormy Weather"....yeah right.

OTHER ABBREVIATIONS: DJ = Disk Jockey copy. PS = Picture Sleeve. J = EP Jacket. co = cut out. LP cover will have a hole, notch or cut corner. ri=reissue. cc= cut corner. bb = small hole in the label of a 45. woc = writing on cover. wol = writing on label. toc or tol = tape on cover or label.
